Job Summary:

The Audio Visual Builder will assist the Lead Builder on any and all build projects assigned are properly made, installed and removed in a timely, safe, and cost effective manner. Assist with the installation of large production. Ensure that proper equipment is prepared, available and ready for large installations. Assist the staff to create the most efficient daily operation as possible. This employee will report to the Audio Visual Manager and Assistant Manager with the goal of meeting the needs of the client.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Lead Builder on all of the build projects for events throughout the year, at all resort locations.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Builder to design and build custom staging on a case by case basis. As well as building storage and shelving for our own department purposes.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to managers for pre-planning of event and offer substitutions and alternatives where appropriate.
  • Repurpose raw goods to extend their rental life and save money.
  • Recycle any and all products properly, such as at Marina Land Fill and Last Chance Mercantile.
  • Maintain the build shop and warehouse, and contents/equipment/tools through proper storage and routine cleaning. Organize hard sets, carpets, and all other build materials are ready for use dates.
  • Ensure that all equipment and all support supplies are properly stored after each event.
  • Assist with monthly inventory when assigned.
  • Keep department vehicles clean and orderly.
  • Supervise the installation of large productions and installations. Liaise with client on site to gain a clear objective, pass this objective onto the Pebble Beach Audio Visual technical staff, and ensure these objectives are met or exceeded.
  • Coordinate our efforts with that of other departments such as Banquets, Conference Services and Floral to increase efficiency of installations and removals.
  • Comply with all Pebble Beach Company safety and health policies and procedures.

Absolutely Required Skills:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a build shop.
  • Knowledge and understanding of build materials, such as woods, metals, fabrics, plastics.
  • Skill and familiarity with full list of shop tools and machinery, to include all types of electric saws, powered and non-powered hand tools.
  • Valid California driver’s license, with no more than 2 points on current DMV record.
  • Ability to drive large vans and box trucks, operate lift gates, forklifts, personnel lifts, golf carts, any type of vehicle or support.
  • Teamwork and excellent customer service in a high paced, strenuous environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects safely, and adhere to all safety standards

Desired Skills:

  • Sewing machine skills for large fabric installations.
  • Familiar with Mac and PC based laptops and desktops.
  • Some experience with the other Audio Visual disciplines, such as sound reinforcement, stage lighting skills, production video switching, LED wall, IT experience.
  • Minimum 1 year Audio Visual production experience preferred.
