Job Summary:

The Engineer 2 assists in all Engineering Operations of Pebble Beach Company buildings and facilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist co-workers when tasks require more than one team member to complete due to heavy lifting of equipment, repairing plumbing under the building, and replacing and/or repairing roof top equipment. Requires ability to lift heavy machinery and parts in awkward positions, including overhead, and ability to climb and perform repairs from ladders; bending, pushing pulling, crawling and twisting.
  • Complete repairs on gas fired and electrical kitchen appliances, boilers, electrical panels, exhaust fans and refrigeration units.
  • Paint equipment and machinery, using both latex and oil paint. Requires ability to withstand extended and repetitive use of arm and hands while holding brush, roller or sandpaper.
  • Monitor and perform basic repairs on pool, including filtration systems, balance ph and chlorine levels on a daily basis via electronic controllers, and ensure chemical barrels are full.
  • Lubricate and change machinery filters and fan belts on various types of machinery, often while crouched over or on hands and knees. In some instances, filters and fan belts will be located in attic areas which climbing a ladder, balancing and the ability to work in small/cramped space, often in low light situations. Equipment and tools used will vary in weight from less then 1 lb. to 100 lbs., and employee must be able to lift, carry, twist and crouch while holding various weights.
  • Replace light bulbs including exterior ground lights, exterior roof lights, ceiling lights, wall lights and tree lights and clean fixtures throughout the property. Requires ability to climb ladders and balance, often while extending hands and arms over head many times in low light situations.
  • Perform basic plumbing repairs and clean and execute preventative maintenance on sewer and drain lines, including snaking drains, sinks, toilets and showers in guest rooms.
  • Guest room preventative maintenance, including checking furniture and electrical systems.
  • Repair furniture, vacuums, small appliances (coffeemakers, radios, lamps, TV’s) and other items as needed.
  • Minor carpentry, including repair of doors and windows.
  • Weld, solder, silver solder and braze to make necessary repairs.
  • Perform masonry work, such as plastering, pouring cement, stucco, tile and brickwork. Requires ability to carry 50 lb bags of cement, push a wheelbarrow loaded with cement and supplies, mix cement and dry materials, and utilize grinders and tile saws as needed.
  • Understand and react appropriately to information from command center alarm system and provide updates as necessary, which requires strong English speaking and comprehension; respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, certification in first aid and AED use; bring basic first aid kit and AED to all emergencies; requires ability to provide basic first aid and to use AED as necessary, and to assist security with incidents/scenes as needed.
  • Respond to guest room calls in a timely manner.
  • Ability to interact with all guests in a professional matter that is consistent with Pebble each Company standards and values.
  • Comply with all Pebble Beach Company safety and health policies.
  • Implement emergency actions as described in “Emergency Procedures Plan” and according to established departmental procedure.
  • Knows models and integrates Pebble Beach Company culture (mission, values and standards).

Absolutely Required Skills:

  • Ability to work in a neat and orderly way, maintaining professional appearance at all times.
  • Able to perform physical active work, including heavy lifting.
  • Mechanical skills and engineering maintenance experience required.
  • Ability to perform carpentry work and painting work.
  • Knowledge of Lockout procedures important.
  • Ability to perform repair, modification and preventative maintenance tasks on buildings, facilities, equipment fixtures and systems. Installs, trouble-shoots, repairs and maintains a wide variety of facility plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems.
  • 5 years’ experience in Engineering or related fields, especially at a hotel or building complex.
