Job Summary:

The Catering Manager is responsible for selling and servicing events in all resort venues. You must maintain a friendly, composed, caring and professional relationship with clients and the community while producing revenues that help the team reach departmental budgets and goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Sell and service weddings and social events
  • Take phone inquiries and walk-ins by potential clients
  • Return inquiry calls and leads by end of day and ensure proper follow up
  • Research and confirm availability of hotel facilities
  • Know current hotel products, procedures, policies and prices
  • Prepare wedding and local/social contracts following PBC guidelines
  • Plan and arrange events in detail from initial booking to menu tasting, décor detailing, final guarantee and billing
  • Determine requirements, including audio visual needs, photography, entertainment, floral, transportation, golf, spa, etc.
  • Coordinate all hotel services for events as requested
  • Be present for coordination of all ceremonies and events
  • Participate in sales activities as requested by Resort Director of Catering & Conference Services and Director of Catering
  • Stay abreast of trends and maintain an innovative approach
  • Provide facility tours and site inspections for clients and potential clients
  • Up-sell hotel’s services when possible and appropriate
  • Ensure “word of mouth” referrals through successful events and relationships
  • Maintain a composed, friendly and professional demeanor
  • Communicate in a clear and effective manner
  • Contribute to building a positive team spirit
  • Exemplify the highest standards of honest, ethical business behavior
  • Manage time efficiently
  • Comply with Pebble Beach Company safety and health policies and procedures
  • Maintain a calendar of upcoming groups and important deadlines
  • Meet annual wedding sales goal
  • Customize and personalize every event
  • Understand your role in the financial success of the department and the company
  • Hire, develop and train your assistant to further his/her career path

Required Skills: 

  • 2 years’ experience in hotel or resort Catering/Conference Services
  • Valid California driver’s license
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure

Desired Skills:

  • SMS experience preferred
