Job Summary:

The Lead Tree Climber position follows the standards set by Pebble Beach Company for climbing, felling, trimming and other tasks related to maintaining a healthy Del Monte Forest.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Climb trees to remove dead or hazardous trees. Climbing gear and equipment is provided by Pebble Beach Company.
  • Operate truck-mounted lift to remove dead or hazardous trees.
  • Remove dead or excess branches from trees and shrubs to improve appearance or health of trees / shrubs.
  • Operate saws, pruners, chippers, stump grinder, and all necessary equipment and tools.
  • Maintains tools and equipment by cleaning, sharpening, and lubricating.
  • Ability to tie tree industry knots.
  • Understand and adhere to all Pebble Beach Company safety rules and policies.
  • Use sophisticated climbing and rigging techniques.
  • Provide road clearance by trimming and cutting back trees and shrubs along Pebble Beach Company roads.
  • Fire prevention, clear downed trees, and debris.
  • Perform duties of tree crewman in support of other climbers.
  • Setup traffic control devices; barricades and safety signage.
  • Assist with Special Event operational needs before and after events.

Absolutely Required Skills:

  • Valid California driver’s license.
  • Have 3+ years of climbing experience
  • Class B driver’s license.
  • Must be able to work full-time Monday through Friday and occasional weekends.
  • Minimum 18 years old.

Desired Skills:

  • Bucket truck related experience preferred.
